Coronavirus Covid-19 testing is now available at CM Mediclinic in Chiang Mai with an antibody test that differentiates between IgM & IgG antibodies. This latest coronavirus test available in Chiang Mai at CM Mediclinic costs only 1395 baht. Accurate Covid-19 antibody testing is a vital part of screening to know your Covid-19 infection status. Coronavirus screening is now made clearer with the new Acro Biotech SARS-CoV-2 IgG/IgM rapid test approved by the FDA in Thailand & the European Economic Area. This newly available Covid-19 test in Thailand is a lateral flow chromatographic immunoassay for rapid, qualitative detection of IgG and IgM antibodies to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in human whole blood, serum or plasma specimen. This test is a reliable aid in the diagnosis of coronavirus infection disease (COVID-19), which is caused by SARS-CoV-2. To confirm past infection, the use of antibody rapid tests with high IgG sensitivity and specificity is recommended. The Acro Biotech test has proven to have high IgG sensitivity and specificity from a recent report by the Norwegian Quality Improvement of Primary Health Care Laboratories published on the 24/04/2020. The test is a quick finger-prick blood analysis with results available in only 10 minutes with high accuracy of more than 92.9%. But please note CM MEDICLINIC WILL BE PROVIDING THE RESULTS AFTER APPROXIMATELY 40 MINUTES BY EMAIL ONLY, as we require a quick patient turnaround within our clinic environment and will not allow patients to wait onsite.
IMPORTANTIF YOU BELIEVE YOU HAVE A CURRENT INFECTION OR ARE EXPERIENCING ANY COVID-19 SYMPTOMS THEN PLEASE STAY AT HOME AND CONTACT US FOR FURTHER ADVICE AND INFORMATION ON PCR TESTING. AS A NEGATIVE ANTIBODY TEST PERFORMED DURING THE EARLY PHASE OF INFECTION CANNOT RULE OUT COVID-19, WE RECOMMEND NOT USING A RAPID TEST UNTIL AT LEAST TWO WEEKS AFTER ONSET OF SYMPTOMS. A NEGATIVE TEST MAY BE REPEATED, BUT NOT ALL COVID-19 INFECTED PATIENTS DEVELOP ANTIBODIES, AND NOT ALL ANTIBODIES ARE NECESSARILY DETECTED BY THE RAPID TEST. THUS, A NEGATIVE RAPID TEST DOES NOT RULE OUT CURRENT NOR PAST COVID-19 DISEASE. CM MEDICLINIC ARE STRIVING TO PROVIDE AFFORDABLE AND CLEARER COVID-19 TESTING IN CHIANG MAI AND WILL BE CONTINUALLY UPDATING COVID-19 SCREENING AS AND WHEN NEWER TESTING METHODS ARE AVAILABLE IN THAILAND.
OUR COVID-19 SCREENING SERVICE IS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. THE TESTING IS AVAILABLE AT SPECIFIC TIMES ONLY. THIS IS TO IMPLEMENT AND ENSURE COMPREHENSIVE, SAFE SANITISATION OF OUR TESTING ZONE ENABLING A CONTINUED SAFE ZONE TO ALL PATIENTS. ONLY PEOPLE UNDERGOING THE COVID-19 TEST CAN ENTER THE CLINIC AND OF COURSE MUST BE WEARING A FACE MASK.
If you have any questions on our coronavirus Covid-19 screening in Chiang Mai and our testing procedures, then please contact us. You can book your Covid-19 test now online or call us on 0805 362362.

Especially during the burning season where farmers practice slash and burn agriculture and harmful PM2.5 sized particles are at their highest concentration levels. We have also been monitoring and purifying our indoor air at our medical clinic to give our patients every bit of quality healthy air we can, while visiting our healthcare staff.
We are very pleased to announce that we have now set up our very own outside air pollution monitoring station. Additionally CM Mediclinic has also joined the Air Visual network enabling us to publicly share live updated readings of our local air quality to the world. CM Mediclinic is one of the main suppliers of Ricovir-EM in Thailand. For several years our Medical Clinic in Chiang Mai has been able to help make HIV PEP and HIV PrEP in Thailand more easily available by supplying one of the world’s most popular, affordable and more readily available HIV antiviral drugs for use in HIV PrEP and PEP.
Ricovir-EM is a high quality generic medicine manufactured by the Global Healthcare Pharmaceutical company Mylan. Ricovir-EM has the same active ingredients as Truvada which is another popular HIV PrEP and PEP drug. Those active ingredients are Tenofovir and Emtricitabine. The main difference between the two HIV drugs is that Ricovir-EM is being used by people all over the world as a way to access HIV PrEP and PEP when Truvada is not easily available or affordable.
It is an understandable concern for people buying medication particularly online whether the drugs are counterfeit or genuine. Obviously this can be extremely dangerous and life threatening. CM Mediclinic only supply genuine drugs and are one of the largest healthcare prescribers of HIV PrEP and PEP using Ricovir-EM in Thailand.
For further information or to schedule an appointment to discuss our HIV PrEP or PEP services please do not hesitate to contact us. Our friendly staff at our HIV Clinic in Chiang Mai will guide you through our complete range of HIV services including up to date HIV and STD/STI testing and provide expert advice on both HIV PrEP and PEP and other HIV medications CM Mediclinic provide.

Prevent yourself from getting shingles with Zostavax® shingles vaccinations available at CM Mediclinic. Shingles, also known as herpes zoster, is a painful nerve and skin infection which is a result of the varicella-zoster virus (VZV) that also causes chickenpox. If you have had chickenpox, the virus can stay in your body for years and in later life develop into shingles. This may happen at any time, with the risk being higher in people aged over 60. Shingles normally starts as a very painful rash on one side of the body or face. The shingles rash causes blisters which generally scab over within 7 to 10 days then clearing up in approximately 2 to 5 weeks. Certain instances of shingles can affect one of the eyes this is known as ophthalmic shingles. This happens when the virus is reactivated in part of the trigeminal nerve, a nerve which controls movement and sensation in the face. 33% percent of people will develop shingles at some stage in their life and unlike chickenpox, you can develop shingles more than once. Receiving a Zostavax® shingle vaccine will lower your chances of getting it again.
For further details please contact us. You can book your vaccination now online or call us on 0805 362362.

Following the completion of trials for a dengue vaccine which will be commercially available next year 2016 (NOW AVAILABLE, but please note Dengvaxia is only for use in people from 9 to 45 years of age who have been infected with dengue virus before and who live in areas where this infection is endemic.), we would like to list the best ways to prevent getting dengue by avoiding being bitten by an infected mosquito.
To protect yourself against dengue in Chiang Mai, particularly during rainy season:
1) Use mosquito repellent containing DEET (N-diethylmetatoluamide), although please beware that products containing DEET should not be used in children younger than two years, alternative repellents are available. 2) Wear protective, loose-fitting clothing. Mosquitoes are able to bite through tight-fitting clothes. Trousers, long-sleeved shirts and socks and shoes (not sandals) are ideal. 3) Sleep under a mosquito net to avoid being bitten at night. 4) Be aware of your environment. The Aedes mosquito which causes dengue is easily identifiable by the distinctive black and white stripes on its body. They breed in standing water in crowded urban environments. Such as toilets as well as water that gathers inside a stack of old tires or your plant pots etc. 5) Use an effective electronic mosquito trap indoors. If you are in Chiang Mai, Thailand and believe you may have symptoms of dengue fever please contact us as soon as possible for treatment.
BEWARE THE BITE. STOP DENGUE IN CHIANG MAI!
A good guide to preventing the Aedes mosquito from breeding has been published by the Singapore government which can be downloaded below:
